[Shotimes] 80mm MAF failure, CLEANING procedure and Materials?

Not sure how you intended to answer Joe's question.  For instance, I have
what appears to be an original ShoShop 80mm MAF with an oval shaped K&N
filter that was sized to fit through the opening in the fenderwell.  The
original owner of the car had fabricated an aluminum tubing and rubber
connectors to route the air from the fenderwell to the TB, which made for a
CAI setup.

So is this style K&N filter a point of restriction in the air intake or not.
