[Shotimes] Clunking

Matt,

Could be motor mount(s) or subframe bushings. These are two very common problems.

To check to see if it's the pesky front motor mount, pop the hood, start the car, hold the car still with your left foot on the brake, give it a bit of gas with your right, and watch underneath the hood for the engine hopping and listen for the clunk.

When my front motor mount went bad on my '93 ATX there was no indication of the intake hitting the hood pad, but it sure was bad.

Crawl under the car and visually inspect the subframe bushings. It'll be obvious if they're deteriorated to the point of "clunking".

Where are you located? Maybe there's a SHOtimer nearby that can help?

Good luck,
