[Shotimes] gas mileage issues

No disrespect intended, but y'all can speak for yourselves. My '95
slushbox regularly nets around 29-30mpg on an all-highway trip. Typical
city mileage is around 19-20mpg, but that's primarily due to the absolutely
stupid DFW traffic and my sometimes-weighty right foot. I'm pretty sure
that I could get over 30mpg on the highway with the right gas and
conditions.

FWIW, Jason, I'm with Don. Unless you find something else mechancially
wrong with your ATX, then I wouldn't worry about it. While it's always
nice to work towards higher highway numbers, 24mpg in itself ain't bad! :)

People need to expect lower mpg from an ATX than a MTX. 24mpg highway is
about what to expect, although there are a lot of other factors, such as
tire pressures and driving style.

Personally, I usually get right at 24-25mpg on a trip. Around town I only
get 19-20mpg. I attribute that to me driving like a moron - heavy gas and
heavy brake.

I found out on my way back from Pittsburgh that my SHO will go precisely
421.6 miles before the engine dies. Fortunately, I found this out as I was
coasting into a gas station, so no harm done, but it raised some questions.
At that gas station, I put 17.6 gallons in my tank. Having done the math,
that averages out to 24mpg. That seems a bit low to me... is there anything
wrong with this number? this is going all highway, so I thought I'd be
getting closer to 30mpg. Am I just delusional, or do I need to have a
look-see at my engine?

Any help would be appreciated.
