[Shotimes] 327 trouble code

Rick,
While I understand that you had good luck performing a specific task, my
intention was simply to point the original poster in the correct direction
so that they do not waste time pursuing the wrong avenue in attempting to
repair their error code indicated.
There are number of possible EGR codes. Each has its reason and diagnosis
procedures that should be followed to identify the fault and correct it.
IMHO, the SHO is not particularly sensitive and every fault has an
explanation (some are just a bit more difficult to find). Performing a
maintenance task that is not called for by a logical troubleshooting
procedure might make you feel better and will probably benefit the engine in
the long run, but it won't solve the immediate situation.
When I had my 94 ATX, I had a 332 code. Dutifully following the FAQ, I
pulled the intake to clean it only to find it was spotless. I then
performed my own diagnostic work and identified the DPFE sensor as the cause
of the error. Replaced it and repaired the car.
My point is that if there is a procedure to be followed for troublehooting a
given fault, it behooves anyone to follow that procedure to get to the right
repair.
Steve
