Eh - Star Trek is no different than anything else. They have
conventions/get togethers for Soaps, Comic books, Star Wars and cars.
They have fan clubs for everyone from Pee-Wee Herman to Bill Clinton.
The only real difference is the Star Trek groups/clubs/fans outnumber
the others and happen to be more visible. Other than that, it's nothing
new or more outlandish than any of the other 'clubs' out there.
I happen to enjoy the shows/movies. Don't go to the conventions,
wouldn't dress up as a Klingon and don't belong to any clubs, however!
