Stories on him here in the local paper, but he was born in June 1927. When
his show started on October 3, 1955, he was only 28 years old!!!!! I know as
a kid, grown-ups always looked old, but he always looked like he was older
than my parents!!

FWIW, he started playing Clarabell the Clown on Howdy Doody in 1947, when he
was 20 years old!

We did the math and figured out that when we first started watching him he
was probably 35 years old, but he looked 65 at the time.
