[Shotimes] Shaking at 70

Ok, my 2c.

I've felt a similar shaking a couple of times, also at around 70mph.

First time around, it turned out that the two of my wheels centerbore was not centered, i.e., the wheel was incorrectly manufactured. So even though the wheels appeared balanced on the balancing equipment, when mounted in a centered fasihon on the wheel hubs the wheel was no longer balanced. It's quite easy to diagnose this condition if you wheel balancing shop will let you in their shop. They usually have this little lever they can put right next to the rim. Now watch the wheel rim closely from the side and see if it moves with respect to the stationary lever. If it moves by more than say half a mm, your wheels centerbore is not centered. You may still be able to center the wheel by flipping the wheel around and mount the wheel onto the balancer in reverse direction. Your shop probably has an adapter that will allow them to do this. See the outer centerbore (i.e., where the wheel manufactorers logo usually sits) may be centered better than the hub side centerbore. My wheels
were like that. Ask the shop to balance the wheel in this position and see if that helps.

Second time this happened to me was with another set of wheels which I suspect were not properly balanced but almost so. Depending on how I mounted the wheel on the hub, the vibration would either be there or not at all. I obviously mounted it in the "no vibration" position. I suspect that there is a slight imbalance in the front left rotor which offsets the equally slight imbalance of the wheel.
