significantly heavier rotor mass ( 1 lb more?  IIRC 20%?? ) that kept the
temperatures down 20% (=100 degrees) and made the brakes work better.
The bigger pads ( only 5% bigger) have no effect on better braking, they
just lower the pedal effort maybe 5%, and make the pads wear a little
longer.
I think many people miss this whole point and think it is the bigger pads
that make the car stop better.
The larger diameter of the rotor does add more braking leverage too, but
that also not pad related.
My 89 brakes easily hit 600 degrees (smelly), and the 96 rotors ran 150 or
so cooler.
The large rear ones never cracked 125 degrees.
