[Shotimes] (OT) SHO replacement

Yup. IIRC (and it's one of the reasons that I don't read it) is that
Automobile does NO tests, and relies on mfr. Numbers. WRT those slower
times, what are the trap speeds? The trap speeds will show the true power to
the wheels. ET is how well the car is driven.

A 4,000 # 300C is only 500 or so more than most SHOs, and it has nearly
twice the torque. Putting a 3.2 into an MTX SHO gets it easily under 14.5,
and that's still with only around 220 lbs/ft or so. The 0-60 on the 300C
isn't that hot, but the car obviously has a strong midrange and top-end
punch.

FWIW, I have trusted C&D's 1/4 mile times. Over many years, they have
matched cars that I have owned, as they drive it as I would. In my younger
days, mags like Hot Rod & Car Craft were closer to my times, as they would
tweak cars for the 1/4, but for the most representative times spent just
flogging stock automobiles. C&D is the most accurate IMHO. MT and R&T are
all over the map with their times, and AutoWeek generally does OK (I would
rate their times 2nd behind C&D).

Your forgetting the 390 lbs-ft of torque though! That helps offset the
weight. I wouldn't count the Automobile mag, its always much slower
than everyone else. The trap speed is 102mph in the C&D car so it makes
since it could hit the 13s.

I'm going to have to call the Car and Driver numbers questionable.

We are talking a 4046 lbs car with 340 crank hp being a 13 second car?!

I dunnoooooo seems a little iffy to me! Was the track they were
running
have a down hill slant?

here are the numbers that other mags have:

Automobile Magazine:
5.7 L, V-8, 5 speed Automatic
1/4 Mile14.70 sec.

Car and Driver Magazine:
5.7 L, V-8, 5 speed Automatic
1/4 Mile13.90 sec.

Motor Trend Magazine:
5.7 L, V-8, 5 speed Automatic
1/4 Mile14.27 sec.

Throw in the Magnum Wagon with more weight.....forgetabout it.

The average Joe driver will hit probably high 14s in the 300C.

Slow? The heavier 300C with the same engine runs a 13.9 in the 1/4!

These Hemi cars look about as heavy as one of my
ex-girlfriends......rolling
oink oinks!

I can't wait to find one to pick on.

I bet they make a nice highway ride though.....but performance....slow
slow
slow.

I wish they would have let me drive the Lotus vs. the Hemi Wagon in the
commerical. I don't think the Hemi would have won!
