[Shotimes] strut info

It's not just you. I had the same problems. It took me almost a whole
weekend to do just one side. Of course, I was doing control arms and
bushings too, so that took extra time. When I finished the first side,
I thought I should take it somewhere and have someone else do the
other side. I didn't, and ended up breaking the head off of the pinch
bolt. Then I had to take the whole hub assembly off, with strut
attached, and take it to a friends place to try to drill the broken bolt
out.
I have yet to do the rears. With my luck the same thing will likely
happen. I'll probably take it somewhere and let someone else deal
with it.
Incidentally, I used a long prybar (and I mean long) to pop the struts
out of the arms.
