There is a group of people that want to build a new race
facility just west of Peoria, IL on I-74. This is about
equal distant from Chicago, St. Louis, Quad Cities,
Indianapolis.
Planned is a 1/4 mile drag strip, 3/8 mile paved Oval and a
3.1 Mile ROAD COURSE! Parking lot use for autocross is also
planned.
Why am I telling everyone this? BEcauwse there is
opposition to the project from a few people that will have
the track as a neighbor. This is understandable, if it was
in my backyard, I would have to think hard about my
feelings, but it is way out in the country next to the
interstate where noise levels are already high 24-7. I
think this project has a good chance, but the more people
that support it, the better.
If you think having an affordable track at this location
would be a good thing for you... then let me know, offline,
and I can send you a list of county board members to write
to, and a Petition to sign and pass around in support. If
we get some people from outside the metro area that say they
would spend some money at the track, that would be a positive.
They are not looking for investors at this time, and they
are not asking for any public money or help, just approval
to put the project on 300 acres of farmland that they have
an option to buy.
Here is a link to their web site (just up).

enthusiasts!
