couple more comments, if the system has been open, you will need one of

If you are retaining the orginal compressor, I would stick with R12 or 
an alternative the runs at R12 pressures and uses
mineral oil (like R12).  Converting to R134 with an old compressor is 
not recommended (especially with the FX15 compressor
you most likely have in that rig.
