Apologies to all, if the below issue results from a genuine Delta Sierra
move on our parts.
We're in the middle of the second 60,000 mile check and some of the
shims, even the original 2650s on the exhaust valve tappets, apparently
are too thin to close the gap down to .010 to .014. I assume all the
measurements are taken when the engine is cold and the cam lobe is 1800
away from the tappet.
Yes, all the cam lobes on all four cams are in good shape, so cam wear
isn't the cause of the excessive gap.
Joshua: None of the shims in the kit is thicker than 2625 (26.25 mm).
So I really need some shims in the 2675 to 2700 range, unless we're
doing something terribly wrong during the measuring process.
