Carl,

Nice wheels!

Here's the weight of some wheel+tire combinations that I've had on my car:

16x6 Slicers w/GoodyearGA 215/60: 38.0# (tire had ~5k left on it)
17x8 TSW Hocks w/Nitto450 225/50: 47.0# (tire had ~10k left on it)
17x8 TSW Hocks w/PirelliP7000SS 235/45: 46.0# (new tires)
17x7.5 SSR GT1 w/PirelliPzeroRosso 235/45: 40.0# (new tires)

I did a study once on tire weights. Briefly, a 235/45-17 ultra-high-performance tire can weigh anywhere between 21-29#. So depending on which tire you select, the effective weight of your car may vary as much as (4 corners) x (29-21#) x (7) = 224#. Not entirely insignificant, right? But I think most importantly that a light wheel/tire will make the tire adhere to the ground much better since there's less weight for the suspension to have to keep to the ground.
