[Shotimes] headlight aiming

On my old headlights (stockers), the aiming bolts are turnable, but nothing happends like you expect from a nut/bolt cluster. I turned until my face turned red, gave up and through them into "god knows what I am going to do with this bucket". Maybe its the climate?
As a sicdenote, I even had to soak the headlight clips with WD-40 for a day before they went out.
