Hello list,
Previously owned a '92 MTX and currently own a '97 V8SHO. Former V8SHO
list member. First time shotimes list member.
Recently purchased '94 MTX w/ 58k on the clock. The condition of the car
and the 2nd owners story gave me confidence in the odometer reading. It,
however, has an issue that I need your opinion on. I have looked through
the website thoroughly and find its content to be tremendous. Thanks to
all who contribute to it. From the posts on the websight I have formulated
my own opinion of what is up but I need to know what you all think.
Engine Hesitation - low RPM range.
If I load up the motor, often even the slightest acceleration, while it is
turning 2000 - 2800 rpm it will accelerate but not before I experience 1
or sometimes 2 hesitations. The way it falls momentarily on its face tells
me its something bigger that just a bad plug or wire. In this senario
there is no noise that I can accociate with the hesitation. At rpm's above
3k there is no hesitation but I'm sure this is not a case of me lugging
the motor because I'm only applying light load to the motor.
I also experience, though less frequently, poor acceleration from a
stand-still due to hesitation. In this case there is often a soft thud or
clunk eminating from the passenger side of the motor that corresponds with
the hesitation. This condition forces me to add rpm and slip the clutch
more that I'd like in order to accelerate.
Possibly related is a clattering noise that I sometimes experience upon
start-up. Noise eminates from the passenger side of the motor, lasts 1-2
seconds and is experienced on upon start-up and only about 15-20% of the
time.
All of these symtoms have developed in the last couple of months. I didn't
sense any of these troubles the first two months after I purchased it.
Thanks in advance for you help,
Brent
