You once said that if someone broke into your home and you had the
opportunity to shoot and kill him, you would not. I don't understand how you
can have that mentality in that one instance but yet you change your mind
radically when it comes to society. Now it seems that you have an "eye for
an eye mentality".

Do you think that Spain has a scoreboard listing "terrorists 1, Spain 0" ?
Do you think that they care?
It was a conflict that they really didn't belong in, weren't doing much in
(yes, they did support whatever we are actually doing overseas...not really
sure on that part yet since our so purpose seems to change depending on who
is on the hot seat on Capitol Hill on any given day) yet suffered great loss
because of it.
One of the huge differences between the US and the rest of the world is that
(in recent times) we will start fighting and keep fighting even if we have
lost sight of the original reason behind fighting. For some reason we feel
that we will be deemed "weak" in the rest of the world's eyes. In reality we
are seen as stupid ignorant cowboys because of it. Spain never lost sight of
what they were doing or not doing and pulled out when the time was right.
For that I applaud them. Meanwhile I have friends that are overseas who are
risking their lives on a daily basis while many of their fellow soldiers are
committing suicide because of stress and policies that are created by people
that are far detached from the situation. This war was supposedly over a
year ago but there is fighting everyday. I think that everyone is getting
frazzled and wants to see a resolution sometime soon. Whatever we were doing
in the past is obviously not working now.

my 2 cents...

Ian
