After removing the metal clip you also need to loosen the 2
fasteners(studs) on either side of the PCM. These are hard to see and are
inside the car. They DO NOT unscrew completely. They are captive fasteners
like the one holding the 60 pin plug to the PCM. The PCM is held in a rubber
floating seal. These side fasteners put compression on the rubber causing it
to expand and hold the PCM. This is what the problem is. The rubber is
swelled up and has "stuck" the PCM. The rubber does not come out. It's weird
because on some cars the PCM pulls right out but on others the PCM must be
destroyed before you can get it out. I don't know why the wide variation?
Loosen the nuts on these studs and wiggle and pull some more. I have never
tried it but maybe some WD-40 would help lub up the rubber seal?
