[Shotimes] upgrading bulbs in headlights

In 12 years, I've never had a headlamp burn out. The implication that the
stock wiring is too resistive to provide full amperage to the bulb would
be supportive of that longevity. The downside of removing that
restriction is that the wearout mechanism of the bulb will be increased,
but the upside is better lighting.
