I turn to you SHO experts for help.
The car is a 93 ATX that experiences random stalling.
This condition occurs at any speed, any temperature
(maybe more when hot).
So far I have changed the following parts, but the
problem still occurs.
Fuel Pump (Ford)
Fuel Filter
Plugs (Motorcraft Platinums)
Wires
Valve Cover Gaskets (Plug Wells are dry now)
Camshaft Sensor
Crankshaft Sensor (gapped .030)
Drivebelt
PFE Sensor (probably unrelated, but cleared a old
code)
When the car is running, it runs perfect, lots of
power, idles great...
When the car is about to stall, you can "usually" keep
it running by holding the gas pedal a little, but it
won't idle at all. Once it has stalled out, it won't
start until after some time has passed. While
cranking, you can smell the gas coming out the
tailpipes, but it won't fire up.
Only codes since all these parts have been installed
and after a stall are KOEO 111, and 542 (from the
stall).
Since the pump primes after the stall, I leaning more
toward the problem being ignition related, my next two
parts I will look into are the DIS module and the IAC.
PLEASE help me out, however you can. I can't spend
much more time/money on this car, nor can we drive it,
as it is quite dangerous on the highways.
If I can't fix this problem the car will have to be
traded in soon.
Thanks,
Mike
