Tried that, car died before I got it completely disconnected.
Funny thing is car was idling fine just then.
Intermittant stuff, fun, fun, fun!!!

Unplug the IAC and see if the car will still idle, it should die. IAC needs
to be cleaned or replaced. I have never had much luck cleaning them. Now
they are all pretty old so replacing it with the improved version might be
best. The FAQ has a write up on cleaning them if you want to try that first
before buying a new one.
