[Shotimes] Anyone Heard of a Sub Frame Bushing Recall?

This was interesting, as this was the later recall that dealt with the
retainer plate and nut. The earlier recall (1996 maybe??) dealt with the
bolt. I know I held off getting my '89 fixed for a bit, and I had it done
around early '98 (I remember it was cold done in Louisville at that time).

As long as the bolts are tight, it doesn't seem to matter much that the
busing is bad, unless pieces of it fall out. When I removed the bushings on
my '94, they just fell out in pieces.

in Feb of 1999.

This will give you their words on what they perceived the problem and
safety consequences to be.

I do recommend what others have said and find out the service history of
your car to see if the recall was applied or if it was eligible.  If
neither happened and you choose this route, ask the service manager some
questions to see how many of these they've done.  I had good success with
the repair on my car, but others have had their clutch linkage assembly
damaged due to poor mechanics.  The actual job has two large holes drilled
into your floor to gain access to where the new nuts go.  Unfortunately
the driver side is in the same area as the clutch linkage assembly.
Also by now, the rubber subframe bushings are toast.  When I installed my
solid subframe bushings 7 years ago, the original rubber bushings fell
apart in my hands.
