I did that, a thousand years ago ('73 or so), on I-80 going to Sacramento. The 55
limit was very new, and there was a CHP ahead of a bunch of traffic going 55. I had
the Boss, red, white, and black and all, and I worked my way up to the front and
passed him in the fast lane, with him in the slow lane (three total) . He looked
over to me and gave me the spread hand signal...five fingers is 55 mph! I gave it
back to him, two gestures of 5 fingers spread out (my right hand worked normal back
then!!) and pointed to my speedo. He shook his head exasperatedly, and I creeped
ahead of him. After I was by, several other cars did the same thing.

I held my speed down at that figure until he finally turned off.

LOL!!
