[Shotimes] Rod shifter/exhaust question

I also installed the U clamps sideways.
I won't weld them if, the clamps don't leak.
I called a muffler shop & they quoted me $700 for a catback less the
resonator pipe! I paid a little more than that for the car!!
Can someone give me some idea of what a "good" catback should cost so I have
some ammunition.
I'm ready to tear off the mufflers (as I think this is the only leaking
part, will check it out this weekend) and replace them myself if I can find
the right replacement original sized mufflers.
Ian, I checked the magnaflow site, and if I remember, they say their
mufflers are not chambered and not louvered ?
Should I be asking them to make up (meaning less $$) a catback for me ?
Thanks everyone for your input.
Ed
