[Shotimes] Rod bearing question

I did the carrier gasket partly because I wanted to do the rod bearings and
it appears that the oil pan and gaskets are easier and more trouble free if
I replace the carrier gasket. My main question still is Do I remove the
main bearing support bracket? I also have a lot of sloppy movement on the
tranny end of my rod shifter. Are there some bushings that can be replaced
in the first connection of the rod. There is some kind of metal pin
flattened on both ends that holds this together, but mine has no bushing in
it and it moves around a lot. I can't see how one would get a bushing in
there without drilling out that pin. Then it becomes a question of where to
get a bushing and another pin.
Thanks,
David
