[Shotimes] OT: early 1990s Pathfinder problem

Hey SHO people,

I'm trying to get a 1990 (1991?) Pathfinder running for the winter season. 
The truck is back at my sister's in Brooklyn Park, MN and I'm in Mitchell, 
SD so I was hoping I could get some pointers on what to look for when I go 
back to MN in a week or two.

The Pathfinder is eating up alternators (it ate two before it was taken off 
the road) and the dealer suggested to my brother-in-law that the wiring 
harness was bad (which harness I don't know).

Has anyone had a problem like this before? Her lights would sometimes cut 
out also. I plan on checking the chassis ground and connections at the 
alternator and battery terminals. If I find nothing unusual, what else could 
it be?

The truck is an SE-V6 4-door with manual tranny and 4wd.
