[Shotimes] Running moving car without y-pipe attached?

Will a SHO start and run without an Y-pipe attached? I want to have my
y-pipe off the car for ceramic coating, but I don't want to keep the car in
the garage while I'm spraying the y-pipe. I would assume the car would start
and run, but how loud and will it have no power to move in and out of the
garage with NO backpressure.
