"Conrad is the best trombonist in the world bar none.
With the demise of Kai Winding and Si Zentner, and the
retirements of J.J. Johnson, Bill Watrous, and Dave
Bargeron, he's simply the best."
You might want to add yours truly to that list. hehe.
Ok Ok, just joking. But I can play a mean
trombone.(maybe a nice one, too)
You're right about the world of "real music" (as I
call it) dying. It's sad to see what's happening in
our nation's schools. And from the looks of things,
there is no chance it will ever change. Atleast I had
a great music experience in a high school where all
that mattered was Football, Basketball, and Track. I
played Hockey...so I was an "outsider" on two fronts.
On a side note... My little sister just got back last
night from Musicfest Orlando (for those in that area
that know what I'm talking about) The Helena High
School (of Helena, MT of course ;-) took first place
in two different categories down there. (think one was
AA concert bands...and the Jazz Band took first). I
went to that twice, (1999, and 2002) those were great
times.
Like any of this matters on a car list...sorry for the
rant of OT. Great to see some of you "old timers"
(running and ducking) still go out and support great
music.
