[Shotimes] Gas

What it really comes down to is what part of the country you're in
(California I've heard is the worst) and what kind of extra stuff goes
into the gas in your neck of the woods.

In the Kansas City area the best I could fill the SHO with (and now the
STi) is 92 from BP. In St. Louis I recall seeing 93 but it might have
been 10% alky.

In general if you don't get any pre-detonation you're fine with the
lowest grade you can run.

Somehow gas prices seem to increase faster than my paychecks do. Gas
in my town went up like $.20 in the past week or so, and it's driving
me crazy. Yesterday when i was at the pump i noticed that the
difference from regular (87) to mid grade (89) was $.10 a gallon as
normal, but the difference from mid (89) to premium (93) was $.14
instead of the normal $.10 a gallon. Any clues on why the variance?

Also, i know people have talked about this before, but i can't
remember the outcome. Is there a noticeable difference between using
regular or mid grade and premium. I've always put premium in my SHO,
but that's just because i was told to. I know somebody in the past
said they ran regular and it ran fine, but i was wondering what other
people were using. Sometimes when i go to the pump i get the urge to
save my self that little bit of money and pump the cheaper stuff.
