If you ever ran the car without a full torque on the axle nut,
the bearing may be damaged. I think you said you may have run
that way for awhile?  I would expect to see some wheel bearing
grease with the start of a failure?

Have you ever heard a funky snap when dropping the front end
after jacking the car? That is how I finally found my bad bearing.
There was no wheel wobble while in the air.

Have you thought about selling the car ;) This is a tough one...
