Yep, just a momentary attention lapse or a sticky gas nozzle trigger and  you 
can end up with gas overflowing onto your hot pipes.  Never happened  to me, 
but I did see it happen to a riding buddy.  That's not the kind of  flames you 
want on your tank.
 
I do like the SHO's right side filler because the cheapest station  in my 
area is on the right side of a divided surface street, and  usually the pump lane 
closest to the street is open because people  can't head into it from the 
opposite direction to fill on their  driver side.  So it's the proverbial "quick 
in 'n' out".
