I agree with you and I would also like to have an extra hour of daylight in
the winter. However do you know the history of DST? The time that we have
in the winter is actually "standard time" and what we used to have year
round. DST was invented as something that would provide additional daylight
in the summer, which is why we switch back and forth. There have always
been people objecting to DST because they prefer daylight in the mornings,
so my guess is that it was too much to hope to change the time for 12 months
out of the year.
