that sucks. this is why if you do a lot of track stuff, you can never have too much safety gear in your car (good helmet, roll bar/cage, good padding, good belts, etc).
turn 6 is going into the boot (tom smith probably has some insight on this, he's probably been there more than me and I know it's recently been changed with the IRL cars coming there soon) but off the top of my head I remember a tire barrier against the armco in that corner. I'll have to dig up my in car videos from there.
between 5 and 6 is where the NASCAR guys peel off for the short course, the boot extends downhill for a lefthander (6). It's pretty fast, top of 3rd gear for the SHO (~100 mph) before braking/turning in, but you never know what could have happened. Could have rolled it (a boxster right?) after hitting the tirewall or something. It's not what I would call a "bad" place, but it's a racetrack and you are at speed....anything can happen.
when we did an EMRA time trial there in Oct '03 it was rainy and we wrecked 7 cars that day from our group. including a '02 Z06 and a '03 WRX. it's a narrow track, with the armco following you all the way around...not very forgiving if you drop 2 or 4 wheels off
