[Shotimes] Gen3 MFS used in a gen2?

Has anyone ever tried using a gen3 multifunction switch in a gen2 car? The
designs are identical on the shape, and pins, but I wonder about the
internals. I'm tired of mine that doesn't work right and was thinking rather
than clean it why not try using the slicker looking and operating gen3 stalk
