A new Camry?

That is something I'd have to see.

Subject: [Shotimes] Speed Upgrades

hey everybody,

As mentioned in other posts, I'm the recent proud owner of a 1989 SHO.
I love whoopin' people on the road, and enjoying the smooth ride.

But tonight I believe I did the SHO name a great injustice...

Returning from the movies, a 2005 Mitsubishi Galant challenged me at a
stop light. We were close, but he had the edge as soon as I shifted
into second, and I caught up again, but basically...I was beat.

Now I'm not a racer, and I don't like dangerous things on the road,
it's not quite my style; I enjoy living. But a friggin' galant, should
NOT be whoopin' on my SHO...

I am calling upon all proud owners for their help to identify the most
cost effective speed upgrades for my 160k mile strong-running soldier.
I want to whoop.

George

You bought the wrong car. The SHO is not a drag race car. Never has been
never will be. Brand new it was a mid 15- to high 15 sec 1/4 mile car.
Heck new Toyota Camrys can beat that. It is a touring car, that is it is
able to go faster than most normal cars on twisty narrow roads. It handles
great in the turns and from 70mph on a 5-3 downshift and acceleration it
will walk away from most cars on the road. Best to spend your money in
improving the cars handling and to make sure the engine is operating up to
snuff. Lots of guys here will tell you how to do that. One more thing the
SHO engine was pretty well tuned and tricked out from the factory so any
mods yeild smaller gains than the same mod in other motors. Some mods
actually hurt performance. Figure out what you have. Check the engine to
make sure it is putting out good power, check plugs, wires, compression etc.
Then concentrate on making ther car better at what it was designed to do
rather than make it somet!
 hing it
was not designed for. A lot of guys have spent big money on the SHO for
small gains and if they were to do it again would leave the car stock and
spend the money on good tires.
