yup, next time your driving stick your hand over the mirror, put your fingers past the edge of the mirror and the flapping will go away instantly. I figured that one one day while riding shot gun in Kevin Galuskas 91.
Kurt Edlebock riveted a small 3"x2" piece of metal on the b-pillar right in front of the belt. It worked great, but didn't look so good.

Hey is that what causes that? It drives me nuts in my Gen1, and for the
life of me I could not remember it ever being a problem in my Gen2. I guess
it wasn't , and that's why.

Those Gen 1 mirrors are the cause of the shoulder belt flapping like crazy
when you drive with the windows down too! That would be the first thing I
addressed if I owned one.

Come on George, the truth hurts. :)
I'm a big Gen1 fan myself, but there are certainly some things about the
Gen2s that are nicer, and the one piece tinted side mirrors are one of them.
