I've extolled the virtues of the LS on this list before and I still stand 
by it. I recently traded in my 2001 LS V8 for a leftover 2004 that I got 
one helluva deal on. And you can't go wrong with free maintenance for the 
first year and a 50K mile warranty. There is noticeably more power in the 
04 than the 01 had. I think they added variable valve timing or something 
of the sort to bump the HP from 252 to 280?? It's eerily smooth 
accelerating on the highway. The fit & finish is markedly improved. The 
only downside to the new one is it lacks the rain-sensing wipers my 01 had.
