Well, you've told me who owns one, but that still doesn't tell me where I
can buy one. If armored vehicles are anything like military aircraft -
there are very few in private hands and it's a small circle of people that
know where or how to obtain one. Seems to me they're both like buying
drugs - I wouldn't know where to start or who to call.
A Brink's armored truck would fall under the commercial vehicle category and
a bulletproof/armored limousine obviously falls under the limousine
category. So, by armored vehicle I assume they mean "military" vehicle. I
know I'm not going to see an M1 Abrams or M2 Bradley for sale any time
soon - if ever. But, I still don't see any Vietnam-era M60 Patton a or
Korean-era M26 Pershing or a WWII-era M4 Sherman tanks for sale.
There's always been plenty of military Jeeps in private hands, and now that
the new M1114/M1116's have gone into service (thank you Mr. Rumsfeld) I'll
bet there will be plenty of M998s on the market....ummmm....slightly "used"
of course.
I checked ebay and all I got was 7 pages of TOY tanks. So I'm right and you
have to know someone who knows someone who knows someone. Each time I ask
my fellow pilots where they bought their military (trainer) aircraft all I
get is a smile...you know, THAT smile. It's like some secret Stone-Cutters
society.
But alas, Im not in the market for a military tank OR illicit drugs, so if
you know how to obtain either - don't tell me.
