Well, it's all a matter of interpretation (Leigh can fill us in), but if you
are running competitive track events, a set of tires a day sounds pretty
reasonable to me. If you are a backmarker, or mid-pack, maybe not. If you
wanna win, tires are expendable.

Ron,
you missed the point. He has been talking about how he wears out a set
of tires in one day at track events, not autocross, so if he is running
his soft autocross tires at the track, that not only is cause for
extreme wear, but it probably is slowing him down, since quite often
soft autocross tires get too hot and greasy in a high speed
environment. He hasn't said I got it wrong, just talking about his
experience. I still think it sounds like he is running thewrong tires
on the track. Probably the right ones for autocross.
Point is there is no need, in a properly driven and set up car with
correct decent tires, to wear them out in one day, and with the correct
tires, he can still run with the big dogs.
