When I had my alternator rebuilt, it was the diode(s) that were bad. Been working great ever since. Alan Fanning recommended this rebuilder. He's right down the street from where I work, he identified the alternator immediately ("Taurus...SHO"), and he rebuilt it for $140 (less than a replacement from Autozone).
