Hmm, in the navy (at least out to sea), I work on average 105 hours a
week (and that's a good week). I get 30 days of paid vacation a year for
it, though, and I get as many sick days as Medical allows me to have.
Usually that works out to 1-4 a year. I get paid about $45000 a year
right now with all my pay added up. It'll be more this year because of
the Hazardous Duty Pay, Imminent Danger/Hostile Fire pay, and Family
Separation Allowance. Still not what a Hi-Lo guy gets, though.

I've worked mucho hours overtime as an engineer, sometimes in excess of
60
hours per week overtime on top of the normal 40 hours, and it never
changed
my income a bit.  Also I never was able to take more than 1.5 to 2 weeks
vacation a year, and never more than a couple of sick days per year.
