[Shotimes] Speakers 89

Thought I would share what I found in my 89.

Under the back deck I have two 6x8 woofers.  Above the deck in brackets
angled forward I have two 6x8 plate speakers with seperate mid and tweeter
and what looks like a crossover built in.  Both the plates and woofers are
the same size.  The woofers are made of plastic or something similar and
looked very good.  The plate speakers had paper cones for mids and simply
can't be expected to be any good 17 years later.  They were deformed and
were probably the main reason the music sounded muffled.

I replaced the plates with a pair of 240watt Pioneer (I said Alpine earlier,
the fronts are Alpine) 6x8 speakers designed for Fords.  The Pioneers are
not plates, normal speaker types.  They fit in perfect.  I put the factory
woofers back in.  I am using the factory amp.  The system sounds pretty good
considering the fairly small amount I have invested in it.
