Different strokes for different folks. Do you remember how the JBL
system sounded when brand new? The little woofer really isn't bad.
This is applicable for those that don't need others to hear our music.
All we want is to be able to turn it up, reproduce the lows
accurately, and not hear distortion. A re-foamed stock woofer
accomplishes this flawlessly.

I think the reason people sense an improvement after replacing the
stocker with a JL or Pioneer is that they too forget what the JBL
sounded like when good. Almost everybody's replacing a blown speaker,
so almost anything's going to sound better.

I had a friend of mine (who built sub boxes for a living some time
ago) build me a box of certain volume to match an 8" sub. Bolted
right up to the factory mounts in my '93. I still wasn't impressed,
especially for the $$$.

Take care,
