[Shotimes] how to change cams?

Generally, just increasing the lift and leaving duration and overlap alone
are great for torque throughout the rpm range. This is one of the advantages
of an OHV engine, you can change the rocker arms to increase the lift.

Aside from the cost of a cam change in an OHC engine, one of the reasons
that a turbo or an s/c are popular is that forced induction really doesn't
need/want more duration & especially overlap for street use, so stock cams
generally work just fine in these applications.

I don't know the differences in the numbers between the two, but in
general more lift & duration will move the torque peak higher in the RPM
band. So as long as the slight low-end loss isn't an issue for you, no
worries.

With regard to the cam swap, Zach's post was spot on. You'll prolly
want to check your shims while you're in there. There is a good drawing
of the cam sprocket orientation in the Helms, but basically the dots
line up with the white marks (which were very hard to see on my chains),
and they all line up across the face of the head where the valvecover
seals.

I was under the impression that swapping out MTX cams for the ATX cams

(intake) would yield better power? The MTX cams give greater lift... so

how would this not be a good upgrade? I'm genuinely curious... I mean,
I
didn't spend a whole lot on these cams so I'm not *too* worried, but I

need to do a 60K anyway, I figured this would be a good excuse to get a

*little* more power out of it... and don't worry, I won't be getting
new
tensioners.
