If 215 size tires fit reasonably well on a 6" wide rim (stock setup on a 92), and now I've switched to 235 on a 7.5" wide rim, I've maintained a fairly close ratio (rim delta: 1.5 in x 25.4mm/in = 38.1mm; tire delta: 215 + 38.1 = 243.1). So I am actually narrower in that respect. The tire sidewalls are very much vertical and square in my setup. Given a capable driver at the wheel, I would expect this wheel/tire package (about same weight as stock) would yield better lap times than the stock tire/wheel. I might be off a bit given the recent stories about effects of rotational mass robbing HP, but I would still expect the handling characteristics to be better and thus allow the car to get around the circuit more quickly.
As for the Porsche, that's fine.
