Sure, that's a relatively well known fact, at least for those of us that
used to live there.  For the other 50% (when the officer does show up),
you have a shot at a plea bargain to lessen the blow.

I had a similar situation happen to me in CA and I had done a lot of work
with help from a member from this list to write a letter to the judge and
got a remote dismissal.
