[Shotimes] Rod Bearings/Scratch Head

thanks for the reply.

The pistons were replaced with the original rods. I wanted to keep the rod
set together as I had no problems in the past...rod wise.

I figured if the backfire only hairline cracked the cast pistons and the
forged rods would be unaffected. Dunno. But I doubt that both forged rods
would be both bent though...could be though. Its a SHO and anything is
possible!

Thanks,
Mike

To clarify, the rod bearings giving you the problem are on the same pistons
(5/6) that you replaced? Did you replace just the pistons or the piston and
rod? Not trying to be a smarts$$, but you got the rods in the same direction
as they came out and you got the rod caps on correctly?

I am thinking that the problem is with the rods. If you used the old rods,
the backfire that cracked the pistons, could have damaged or twisted the
rods. If you used the rods from the parts motor, I would do some careful
measuring with micrometers and some plastigage.
