[Shotimes] Rod Bearings/Scratch Head

The motor only has 7k on it. Everything was rebuilt on the motor including
porting and reworking the heads. We also checked the clearances on the
valves and the heads/valves are all good and working (thank gawd!)

The knocking started immediately upon start up with the new/used pistons
installed. So I'm thinking if there was a clog it didn't come from the rod
bearing shavings.

There were some metal flakes (tiny) in the oil from the two rod bearings
wearing out.

We are going to pull the bottom end apart and mic everything.

Also the rods and caps were installed correct with KOA facing the
accessories.

I appreciate everyone's input.

Thanks,
Mike

Likewise. I was thinking along the same lines. You may
need to disassemble the entire block (may not be a bad
idea to do the heads as well) and have everything hot
tanked.

Then again, if the bearings were that bad and you
cracked the pistons, you may have already scored up
the cam journals in the heads. It may not even be
worth it.

This is all of course worst case scenario but your
description of the bearings is a bit troublesome. If
that much material was pounded or melted down/broken
off, it is most certainly clogging something up.

What did the oil look like when you drained it? Any
metal flakes?
