Likewise. I was thinking along the same lines. You may
need to disassemble the entire block (may not be a bad
idea to do the heads as well) and have everything hot
tanked.

Then again, if the bearings were that bad and you
cracked the pistons, you may have already scored up
the  cam journals in the heads. It may not even be
worth it.

This is all of course worst case scenario but your
description of the bearings is a bit troublesome. If
that much material was pounded or melted down/broken
off, it is most certainly clogging something up.

What did the oil look like when you drained it? Any
metal flakes?
