[Shotimes] OT - Will this work?

Yeah, it will also work if you mis-place the remote for your TV!!! Not.
I suspect it "might" work with an analog cell phone system. The analog
signal from the key fob would be transmitted from the cell tower as an
analog signal to your cell phone AND your car. The doors should unlock just
as if you were standing right there with the key fob.
But, I doubt it will work with a digital cell phone system. The
'analog-digital-analog' conversion is the problem. In this system, the
analog signal from the key fob is transmitted from the cell tower as a
digital signal through the air, but the receiver in you car is looking for
an analog freq signal, so it won't work. OTOH, when the digital signal
reaches your cell phone it will be converted into an analog signal, but the
output will be a "sound" from the speaker, and I doubt your car will
'respond' to that. Just try 'yelling" at you car (in the MHz freq range)
and see if it will unlock!!!
Some key fobs are analog, some are digital, and some are BCD (binary coded
decimal) transmitted over an analog signal. Combine that with analog,
digital, and tri-mode cell phones and CDMA, TDMA, GSM, etc and you've got
way too many variables. Go out and try it with your cell phone and key fob.
I may work, it may not work.
Key fobs and cell phone have both been around for 20 years. If this worked,
don't you think we would have heard about it years ago?
